The mythical origin of the game is told from the perspective of Quinn Tattercur aboard The Dream's Revenant. The ship runs aground in an atoll. The crew scatters to the three islands around the shallow bay, each with their own perspective of power, community, and purpose.

The tale also comes together through other artifacts found in the wreckage, years later. Officer's logs, carpenter's notes, chef's recipes. All of the elements are assembled in the Corsair's Edition of the game
